Default reduced engine power

I have a 2010 Sierra with the 5.3L. While driving home last night at highway speeds with cruise control on, I experienced a loss of power. All of the warning lights on the instrument cluster lit up, the engine sounded like it was wanting to stall out and then I think the brakes locked up for just a couple of seconds.

Called Onstar immediately and they ran two diagnostics on it and found nothing wrong. While on the line with them I got a message on the dash to service the stabilitrak with the corresponding warning light on the dash. This went away once I slowed down to exit the interstate.

I've only had this truck for two months and this is not something I'm willing to take lightly. Onstar said it could be a communication issue with a module or the computer. Called the dealer this morning and have an appointment tomorrow but I'm not very confident they'll find a problem code when they hook up the diagnostic module.

Is this something simple or am I looking at a bigger issue? It's still under warranty so I'm not worried about that but would like to know just what the heck is wrong with my truck.

The issue will be in the PCM history of events that triggered for your engine to reduce power. Good chance that it's going to be a bad lire harness or bad module to your stabilitrak system.

Please keep us posted and no worries, even new cars and trucks have gowing pains.

It's apparently a bad steering wheel speed module (something like that), they'll have to find out which one it is and replace it. Hopefully it wont happen again.

Well that's good they narrowed down what is causing your Sierra's issues and is being addressed. Keep us posted on the repair.
