Default 2004 yukon loose Shifter

hello everyone i am having a problem with my
2004 gmc yukon, the shifter is loose and its hard to
get the truck into gear, but once its in gear the truck runs fine.
any ideas what it could be?

by the way the shifter is loose only when i switch the key to the on position.
thanks in advance any help will be greatly appreciated

update..it was the Steering Column Shift Mechanism
