Default 2009 Z71 tail lights on rear passenger side were out

tail lights on passenger side rear were out, brake and signal light ok,
the power for the tail light comes from the connection block and is mounted to the cross piece, it goes to the side marker light and then feeds the tail lights, on the right side, I found the wire rotted off at the side marker light, I removed the coating on the good wire and soldered the other wire to it, I had removed the tail light assembly to do this, I found that the left tail light assembly had 4 bulbs while the right tail light assembly only had 3 bulbs, anyone know why?
