Default New to Forum(s) and GMC, but need some help!

Hi everyone,

I am new to forums but after trying to Google a question and finding nothing on the subject, I was told by my GM dealership to sign up for this forum and ask the question. I recently switched over from Ford vehicles (truck and SUV) to GMC and have enjoyed our Sierra SLT for a while now. So just last month we sold the Ford Fusion and purchased a 2017 GMC Acadia Denali with 24,000 miles. All was well for a week and then the service engine light came on while the brakes simultaneously were going wonky. So we brought it in to the dealer in our home town (not where we got it from) and they found a professionally-done aftermarket job that they couldn't explain and didn't know what it was for. On the braking vacuum hose attached to the engine, there was a splitter added and a yellow hose added which ran from that splitter, through the firewall, to the back of the Acadia under the rear storage compartment. It was done very nicely and concealed well, but it looks like there was something attached to the other end of the hose at one time, which was removed before the vehicle was traded-in to the GMC, Cadillac, Buick dealer in Kenosha, WI where my wife and I purchased it from. The dealer here in Michigan said the added hose had strong suction but was no longer connected to anything which is why the brakes were acting up and the service engine light came on. They have no idea what it is/was there for. This modification of course voided my warranty so I am paying cash for the fix, but am very curious what this was done for? What is/was the purpose of it? Thanks in advance for the help!
