Traded my 16 Canyon SLT Crew Cab!
It took a month of ownership before I was totally shocked as I have always been a GM guy. I drove the 2016 4 WD V6 Canyon for less than a year. Perhaps the most beautiful vehicle I have owned but it was a mechanical mess. The transmission was always confused and would downshift every time I let off the gas. It would shudder for a few seconds every time it thought about downshifting and the rpms would drop then it would finally downshift and rev back to life and throw you back in the seat. If I let off the gas at 70 mpg on the interstate just to coast momentarily the transmission immediately downshifted. The dealer said, "Just be glad you have the six speed rather than the 8 speed, it's even worse". They offered to change the transmission fluid but said it probably wouldn't help it. It used a quart of oil every 3ooo miles every oil change. Dealer said that was within limits. The electronic gas pedal controller actuator was as confused as the transmission and had little effect on the engine without large foot movement and seldom would do the same thing twice. Front seats were too narrow. The truck was too small. Back seat was cramped at best. The 4 wheel drive system was hoppy choppy and not at all smooth and there was NO dash indicator. All you had was the switch position which was hidden by the steering wheel.
If you are thinking of getting one of these smaller trucks, do yourself a favor and go get the Ram 1500 V6 full size crew cab. Much more room, far better ride and the same gas mileage.
