Default Yukon Denali Transmission Shudder

2016 Yukon Denali, about 53,000 miles. Anyone else noticing a shudder or vibration while at cruising speed? No specific speed or rpm. Doesn't happen when accelerating. Please share ideas; I want to know what I am facing BEFORE I take it to the dealer.

Hi. I had the same thing in my 2016 Yukon Denali. It would happen around 45 mph. Thought it was a plug, injector or wire at first. Took to local shop and the computer was reading all kinds of transmission codes. Never got a check engine light. The problem is the torque converter is trying to "lock up". The fix was to do a double flush of the transmission fluid (and change filter) and do an extensive sw update. The sw update was $300 due to the car having more than 36K miles. The rest of the work was under the drive line warranty since it was <60K miles. I have put about 2500 miles on it so far with no transmission issues.

CFinney, thanks. Mine is happening at all speeds now. Have been cruising in Manual7, and that really reduces the shudder. I have talked to Beck and Masten Houston North. I am hoping for a TC replacement. Have read a lot about the flushes, but I want that part out of my truck! Hope yours stays smooth!

The shudder issue is common with GM 8 speed transmissions. GM did release a service letter which involved flushing the transmission and replacing the fluid with a new type. If this has gone on long enough it might be time for a new torque converter or maybe even the transmission. I'm also aware of a class action law suit in the works over the 8 speed transmission.

Thumbs up Transmission Shutter

I have. 2016 Yukon Denali with 49,000 miles. I've noticed a vibration/shutter at very low RPM'S and speeds under 50. Mostly happens at 36/46 MPH and tied to the RPM'S. When I speed up or take my for off the gas, it stops. I've changed the plugs and the shop changed the transmission fluid with no change. It's going to the shop on Tuesday. Looks like it might be the torque converter based on this thread. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Jeff
