Default 2015 brakes went out at 29K miles

Today I learned that GMC has gotten many complaints about the brake pads wearing out very quickly once they are under 8mm. I had to get new front rotors and pads that cost $550 at a tire store. I called three tire stores and they all said they were getting in many Cadillac and Yukon vehicles with bad pads. Change your pads before you get down to 6mm. In 5k miles my pads went from 6mm to zero which damaged the rotors.

On my 2016 Yukon Denali I got about 20K out of them before new pads and rotors (warped). On my 2019 I ordered the upgraded Brembo front brakes - so far so good.

I have a 16 Sierra and I had to replace my rotors and pads at 20k. I purchased SP Performance Slotted Rotors and matched them up with their semi met pads. I now have 80k on the truck and have had no issues since. They also stop much better than the stock crap.

My front pads went at 35K. Rotors were o ly barely scored so I let them be WITHOUT a cutting. Pads seated fine. Still stopping great at 51K.

Last week the rear pads were also on last breathe. I replaced them and Dealer cut rotor
( so they said) even though I said NOT to! I know cutting rotors can thin them, make them heat faster, thus warp and cause shudder when braking. Week later all is well.

PS....Local shop I k now charged $115 to change pads on front. Dealer charged $299 for rears pads WITH a cut. FYI
