abs control module

My friend has a 2005 yukon xl 1500 series and opened a can of worms and now has a real problem. He never marked the brake lines to the ehcu on the frame when replacing the brake lines. This Yukon is making a noise, like a motor is running, even when turned off and key is out of ignition. Googling the problem says it's the ABS control module or a relay switch. The relay switch is a $13 fix, while the control module is $1,000 plus. Suggestions?
