edelbrock carb issues

does anyone know why my truck would choose not to start? my edelbrock carb is getting fuel fine, the valve seems to stick open somtimes, but i take off my air filter and close it and it still doesnt want to start...this only happens sometimes, for instance when i fill up with gas it doesnt...
