New to the forum and trying to get my 98 Jimmy ready for a safety check. I cant seem to get my Jimmy out of park without using the emergency release, I've replaced the neutral safety switch and repaired a wire there as well. I am in the process of replacing the shifter cable but I'm waiting on...

I recently bought a 2001 GMC Jimmy for my first car.. love it! I have a few mud pits near me and I want to take it out, but I'm not totally sure the 4WD works. Is there any way for me to test it before I take it out?
