Tried to do a search on this but the search function does not seem to be working.
Anyway my engine fan stays on all the time no matter what the coolant temp is. Is there a temp sender or something that goes bad on these things?
Its a 2001 1/2 ton with the 5.3 auto.
Thanks

Your clutch fan had failed and will need to be replaced, here is a link for the parts needed in your cooling system.

Good luck and keep us all posted. :D

Right on Molson, I was hoping it was something easier but thats my luck. So the Fan clutch is the part in front of the fan blade in the picture right?

You got it, it's just the clutch that needs to be replaced and not the whole fan assembly. I know the price is up there, but you can pick one up at any Salvage yard for under $20.00 if you pull the part your self and they do have 90 warranty on the part.

Here is the list of trucks that had that clutch installed in them so your have a wider variety to chose your parts from. http://www.compnine.com/pnmouseover.php?pn=15073014

Good luck and hope this helps. You can also try to convert your mechanical cooling system with an electrical system which should free up any where between 12 to 17 HP to your engine.
