Just like most people I've had several issues with my envoy. Bought it new and it now has 63K miles. I had to replace the midgate, the rear gate regulator, rear windshield motor. Now one speed on the air condition selector switch does not work and the speedometer was stuck at 70 MPH. Notice I said was... Now the volt meter sticks all the way to the right. The reason I joined this forum is I have had success with a simple fix for my speedometer. My fix is a little more easy to show than to explain but I'll do my best....Put the key in the ignition. The first click shows the battery light and if you have your radio on, it comes on. Second click the gauges get power. Between that and cranking the engine is the critical step to reset the speedometer. What I noticed was I started to crank the envoy and I turned the key slowly and let go before the starter got power to crank the engine. This allowed the key to go back to the second click. When I did the gauge cluster made a scratch sound and I saw the gauges dip down slightly but moved back to the position. I decided to turn the key several times slowly then a little faster until I got the right timing down, but never starting the engine. I watched the speedometer go from 70 to zero...This fix lasted for about six months. Then I had to redo it. It works fine only issue is the voltmeter. It resets along with the speedometer but eventually goes all the way to the right. I showed a friend the fix as he has an 05 trailblazer that was stuck at zero. Unfortunately it did not work for him. Maybe it will work for some of you that haven't replaced your cluster. I'm no mechanic so I don't know why it works, or how? I don't know if it is sending more power to the voltmeter and that is why it doesn't register correctly. All I know is it resets the speedometer when it sticks. Good luck!
