2004 GMC Jimmy (4x4, 4.3L) is making a squeaky noise from the driverside front wheel area, only when making right turns. (bad wheel bearing(?)
There is no noise when turning left.
The Jimmy has 77365 miles / 124500 kms.
Has any one had this type of problems?
What is the approx. cost for new wheel bearing and installation labor?
Thank-you. Jim

Hey Jim,
It sounds like it could be a wheel bearing or a CV axle. I actually just did wheel bearings on my 99 Envoy last week. If you are at all mechanically inclined I would say to do the wheel bearings yourself. I live in MI and I did it for $99 for the part. The bearings are pressed into the wheel hub assembly so you just replace the whole assembly. It is very easy.

The assembly is held on to the steering knuckle by 3 18mm bolts. You have to remove the brake caliper and rotor. The caliper is also held on by 2 18mm bolts. Just make sure that you loosen the mounting bolts and NOT the adjustment bolts (they are both 18mm bolts). Then look on the back(inner side) of the steering knuckle there will be 3 bolts in a triangle pattern. then you have to follow the wheel speed sensor from the hub back to the frame. It will plug in to the harness behind the mud flap. If you have any questions just send me a message.
