05 Denali Occasional Off-Road Use

I am giving very serious consideration to purchasing a 2005 Yukon Denali. The vehicle will see mixed use-highway, around town and towing a ski boat or atv. Also, several times a year, I travel off road to some family property. There are muddy roads, but nothing extreme. I was wondering how the Denali AWD system would serve me, as opposed to a "true" 4x4 system like a regular Yukon SLT or pickup. In the past, a Jimmy and an Explorer (both 4x4 with only A/T tires) have worked well. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with this vehicle on light-medium muddy roads. Thanks

You should be fine, just drop your air pressure to your tires to 20-25 psi when your off the road in the trails. This will take a lot of the stress off your drive train and then just bring the air pressure back up to where they should be on the tire label on the door.
