Ol' wise ones...

Last month my '06 Denali 1500 developed an oil pressure reading which pegged out at Max even when the truck was off, but electrical accessories engaged. So, I - with the help of my daughter with tiny arms/hands - completed the PITA job of accessing and replacing the Oil Pressure Sensor. It appeared to fix the issue with normal readings for the month, then this week I now have low and fluctuating readings, with warning bells and ECU readings. I can't determine one scenario which causes the reading to fluctuate: under load, hill, idle. There is no engine noise or temp issues to make me think it is a mechanical issue. Your thoughts of where to proceed. I've read a few paths:

1. We did not replace the filter below the sensor/switch because they were supposedly not used until '07. I almost installed one anyway, but wasn't sure the channel would accept and hold it. Can someone confirm if a filter is needed on a 2006 Denali?

2. I saw where a clogged/cheap oil filter can send similar symptoms and might be a $10 fix verses the difficult, more expensive sensor.

3. Replace the sensor again - or check for security of install and wire harness.

Thanks in advance!
