ok so my friend has a 14b turbo and I got gmc 2000 sierra 1500 and i was wondering if i can put the turbo in it? and save some gas or something. I'm also putting a hydrogen cell later on tho.

any recommendations/comments for the turbo or anything i should kno? or something that would be nice to know?

do you think is a good "project?"

Will not work unless your planing to burn a hole through your pistons. Turbo charger to small for a V6 4.3 and even smaller for a V8. The 4.3L turbo charged Syclone and Typhoon runs a TDO6H 17 turbo charger and that was kind small for the engine's potential. The other thing too about saving gas with a turbo charger is a myth. The turbo charger just makes the engine more efficient, but with thew cost of using more fuel to make it work. In simple answer, to make more HP between N/A and turbo charger. N/A engine will use less fuel to make HP, but a turbo charger will make more HP more efficient cause it forces more air in the engine. More air needs = more fuel needed.

The problem with the small turbo you have is yes it will create great boost much faster then the bigger chargers and can pressurize the system up to 22 PSI, it's the hot side your going to have a problem. The restriction of the turbo it self will heat up the internal parts like the pistons and valve to the point that it's going to burn a hole through it. I had a GMC Typhoon and at night you could see the turbo charger glowing from the heat it made when i was out making money.

Good size for the 4.3L is a Garret GT25 TURBINE HSG A/R 0.82 BHP@6psi 372.67
Good size for the 5.3L/5.7L Garrett GT30 TURBINE HSG A/R 0.82 BHP@6psi 496.90

This is by calculating that you are going to run a intercooler and will have the proper fuel supply needed for engine to run the turbo charger. Here is a link for you to look up on Garrett turbo chargers, and you need to do your home work, you just can't add a turbo charger on an engine and hope for the best. http://www.turbobygarrett.com/

There is a also http://www.cartuning.ca/. Give them a call and they can help you answer any questions you may have about adding a turbocharger to you sierra. They have a kit out for the 6.0L Yukon and can dyno tune the ECM for the turbocharger.

Good luck and keep us all posted and feel free to ask any more questions you may have.

Turbo charging a 2000 gmc Sierra 1500 5.3 vortex

Hi. I need help with a few question I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 4x4 extended cab. I want to to turbo charge this baby. I've taken real good care of her since I've had her. Done a few mirror mods and upgrade. She fast for a 1500 a d I would love to know if its possible I'm not a major gear head just a huge fan of gmc/Chevy. She fuel injected so that rules out super charger ( if I'm right) so the would leave turbo charging I'm not if my engine is comparable for that kinda thing:mad:/ , and what type I would need for her. Any advice is greatly welcomed. Thanks. Please reply to this forum or my email. Starblazing94@gmail.com
