Hello,
Im new to this Forum, and to posting online. I have a 1969 K2500, Leroy, hes big and brown and 8 feet tall, which I recently found out is a little bit of a problem as he will not fit into your typical garage, the door isn't tall enough. I live in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, so extreme cold is a HUGE issue when trying to do some work on him. He has a broken from axle, drivers side and I am not 100% sure what type of axle length I will need and what the Front Diff is, it is a 10 bolt Dana 44, I think????
I pulled an axle out of an old truck, it got stuck and torched, early in the winter and I would like to try to get it into Leroy, but I don't know if it will fit and the only way I know of finding out right now would be to take the old one out and try the new one. I am afraid the cold weather will cause trouble with this, -30 today without the wind, so I am afraid the cold will cause some of the metal pieces to brake while removing them.
Any help of suggestions on how to go about changing the axle, or where to find an axle would be very helpful. Also he has a 350 V8 carbouratored engine which doesn't work well in the cold. I also don't drive him in the winter because of this, any suggestions on how and where to buy the parts for an ungraded carb system to be able to run well in the -30's?
Thank you ahead for your help and suggestions.
