Hello,

what can I do for my GMC to start again. It stopped while running but the meter still had about an 1/8th of gas and then filled up gas about 5 gallons and when trying to start again pressing on the accelerator pedal the cable ripped or broke. I replaced it and now it doesn't start. I got one that seems a little longer than the one that was there. It has a 350 block edelbrook engine and carburetor I think it is a 5.7 engine. So the guys at Napa told me that was the cable for it. I had to pull it to my house because it didn't start. It stalls and then smells like gas but it doesn't start. I put zip ties on the end of the pedal because the cable seemed loose. Also the battery went weak after several attempts to start. I passed current to it from another car with jumper cables until it sounded like it usually does when trying to start but the engine won't start.

Any help or advice will be appreciated.

the cable should be about 82 inches long, i would take that one off and measure it, if its the same length then replace the mechanical fuel pump, you will need to know if its 3 hose or 2 hose should be mounted on engine block
