i have a full size gmc jimmy and it has all that emission control crap and i hate having it! and i was wondering if i could take it all out and still make it pass all the tests? and if that doesn't i was wondering if a 1976 chevy 350 engine would work with it.
you'd fail without it. And there really isn't anything wrong with having it on. the EGR valve actually helps with horsepower by allowing the excessively hot exhaust gas get moved around.
a 1976 chevy engine still needs to have a smog check done.
Your car is 1986, you can not legally put an engine older than 1986 in. technically they consider it downgrading.
