My 1986 GMC K2500 Sierra Classic came with automatic locking hubs and I hate automatic locking hubs because they are unreliable. Is it possible to remove the automatic hubs and replace them with manual locking hubs, how much work is involved in replacing auto-hubs with manual hubs(what steps do you take in replacing auto-hubs with manual hubs?), and how much would it ruffly cost to have a mechanic do the job?????

You'll cuss those hubs when you jump out of your truck and get buried to your knees in mud.. then when you finally get to them they won't turn cuz they're full of junk. lol I think 4x4 in general is just unreliable - can't live with or without it. At the shop you're looking at well over a grand parts and labor.

Yes it is possible you just have to buy the hole manual hub assembly and replace it, it will take between 4 to 6 hours labor job, before buying the assembly you must be sure about the Type that uses your car, some times the have different Assembly.

No Idea about the price that a mechanic can charge you for the job.
