OK, is not a GMC but a Chevy 1500 1/2 long bed 5.7 v8 TPI auto 700r4 that has well over 150,000 miles on it with only a few problems. To start off, my dad had the 2.73 gears (YES OEM GEARS FROM DEALER) pulled out and had a set of 4.10 added to pull his camper, this helped alot. But as you know it did not help the gas mileage and the speedo is way off. Here where the problems are, my brother being a F@&D man decides to replace the speedo gear in the trannie. He pulls off the tall shaft and finds is just not that easy to do. So he puts it back together and now the trans shifts like a shift kit was added and there is no OD at all. The motor just revs back up to I guess would be drive no matter how fast you are going, and it will drop to ideal ever at highway speeds. It barks the tires when it shifts from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. HARD!!! Even with very little petal. It never did any of this before. Oh, and the speed is not working at all now..... Leave it to a f@&d owner to mess something up! So what I need help with is the
1. How do you change the speedo gears out? (We have the new ones for 4.10)
2. what could be the cause of the HARD SHIFTS?
3. And what happen to OD?

Its hard to think all of this happened just by taking of the tall shaft.
