Hi everyone,
brand new here, and I have a question. I did try to do a search in the archives, but i keep getting a message that tells me I have too few words in the search queary, or something to that effect. Anyway, here it is...buy the way, just had the truck for about two days....all wiring looks very un molested.
1987 gmc with a 454, dual fuel tanks....when switching over to me "second" tank, i get no fuel...so:
1- are there two fuel pumps, one in each tank? Or are there just pickup lines in each tank leading to a solenoid that switches feeds?
2-what are the most common, if there any issues that can cause this?
3-I'm guessing whether or not it's fuel pumps or pickup lines, there is a switching solenoid?
4-are there any hidden in-line fuses that I should look for?
5- Is there a seperate and specific location for the switching solenoid relay?
6-if i power the solenoid direct with 12v, should i hear it operating if i were under the truck?
7-Does anyone have the schematic for this area of the wiring system?
if i do direct power the solenoid, and its audibly clicking, is there a good assumption that its ok? Kinda like "if its cklicking, its good"?
8-if i direct power the fuel pump ( if there are one each tank), should I hear it running as you can most auto's?
any answeres will be appreciated, and I hope to be able to return the favor in time...THanks!
