hello guys and girls, basically bought this truck last month as a project, spent more then i wanted to so far being a broke 20 year old with no job.. its just problem after problem basically and im startin to wish i did not purchase this truck... the truck sat for 3 years(so he said) i basically bought it cause it has 6000km on a rebuilt engine and a solid frame, also he was the original owner and he kept all the paper work so i have every receipt and a bunch of lifetime warrenties on parts.. so far spent like 1800$$ on getting the lights and electrical stuff working, tune up and brand new brakes and rotors all around and a bunch of other random bs.. i took the IAC out of my other 88 c1500 which does idle, that didn't fix the problem.. i can also hear a kind of scratchy noise sounds like a bad water pump coming from the engine.. im runnin out of cash and wonderin what the gmc forum thinks my idle problem is.. after the truck is started for 5 min and i let off the gas it will idle fine, and drives like a champ.. besides the whiny/scratchy noise coming from the engine and the idle its not a bad truck.. any help is appreciated.. thanks

Scratchy kinda sound is most likely a tensioner bearing going out. If the gap in the tensioner is greater on on side or the other, replace the whole assembly, not just the put and bearing. If not the tensive, well secondly be a bearing in one of the drive pullies or legato a faulty ac clutch.

Never did say what exactly your idle problem is. Other than it runs fine after five min of revving. Won't idle? check for vacuum leak or intake leak. IAC could still be faulty. It is used off a 23 year old truck. Check for leak first with carb cleaner spray.
