I've got a 1990 GMC Suburban that Runs, but at low speeds it is really rough.
When I stop at a red light and it turns green I step on the gas but it takes a second to react.
Which it usually reacts with a sudden VROOM!!!!
When I start it up it also requires some gas pedal pumping and when it does start after 3 seconds its a loud VROOM start up.
When I purchased it about 1 & 1/2 months ago it ran with no problems.
(While driving home it did randomly stop but started right back up and went on)
-Then a few weeks after I ran out of gas and fried the Fuel pump.
-Replaced the fuel pump & the filter.
-About a week later I had to replace the alternator.
(When I did this I hooked up the alternator without grounding it. Lots of sparks but the battery wire was rigged so it burnt off before doing damage to the alternator, battery, ect.)
-Ran well for 2 weels and then it has started this and it has been getting worse and worse.
I know since were online there are many things that could be wrong.
But please, if you've had this kinda problem and fixed it/ had it fixed. Share what was wrong and what had to be replaced.
My step father is confident we tightened the pump & filter tightly so no air is getting in.
I've started the truck at night to see if I could see any arcs or sparks under the hood, none.
Suggestions? Thank you a lot for your time.
*About the alternator thing. It was my 1st time hooking one up. My step father had uninstalled the old one and I watched closely. When he did it he took 2 wires off the came bolt. But when i hooked it up I could only find 1. So it was a stupid mistake and I was very lucky. like I said tough the wire burnt so no damage could have been done to the rest.
