When I attempted to install a new switch assembly [tilt wheel application] the key lock cylinder actuating rod will not line-up with the new switch. The key lock cyl. is in the LOCK position. The switch end of the actuator rod is now approx 55mm [2 inches] too close to the firewall and will not align with the hole in the sliding portion of the switch. The "hooked" portion at the end of the actuator is also now vertical and not horizontal, as I believe it must be in order to for it to align properly - it appears to be 90 degrees out of position and because of this it will not engage with the hole in the ignition switch body. I have carefully compared the new switch to the old one and both appear identical, so I believe I have the correct part.

Please help!

Thanks;
