new to this site, but i've got a 1991 gmc jimmy. recently i've had some trouble starting the truck and keeping it running. a few months ago i had the alternator done, ran perfect after that. but now right after it snowed, tried to start but it wouldn't fully turn on. it would turn over and you can hear it trying to turn on but just wouldn't. and when it did turn on after turning it over for a good 15 seconds, you'd have to pump and constantly rev it and hold the gas down to even keep it running. it backfires constantly, and just doesn't idle correctly.

yesterday i got my truck back from the shop, they replaced the distributor cap and the rotor, the inside of both were all burned black. but it started up good and drove it home.

i'm on my way home from work today and i'ts doing the exact same thing, ill come to a complete stop and the idle will drop down to about 1000 and quickly die and catch itself every 10 seconds i would say. it died on the exit ramp, but i got it back up and running enough to get home.

on the way home id hit the gas and nothing would happen, but as i was hitting the gas it would catch and than stop, go and than stop constantly.

CEL light has never appeared.

i'm stumped, i'm not the smartest when it comes to cars and i really do not want to sink anymore money into this thing.

but if you guys have any answers or questions i'd be forever in your debt haha.

thanks for taking the time to read this.
