Hello. I just inherited a 1992 GMC K2500 Suburban. I like this vehicle very much because of its strong 454 motor and it´s 4x4 ability. I plan on using it for family stuff like camping up in the mountains or BBQs at the beach. You know, stuff like that. The only problem is that its missing the roof rack that all Suburbans have. At first I hoped that someone had just unscrewed it off but that isn't the case. It turns out that my Suburban never had a roof rack, it drove out of the factory without one. But I really want a roof rack and since I´m not a big fan of aftermarket products, I'm looking at getting the correct OEM roof rack for it. Will this be possible? I can drill the 8 holes, that is a cinch but where are the bolts going to hold? The only thing I can think of is removing the headliner and welding a nut under each hole but I don´t want to go that route and risk ending up damaging the headliner. Can someone give me some tips on this issue? Thank You

Nevermind. I did some research and found a fix. I will be drilling 16 holes where I will clamp 16 GM rivnuts or rivet nuts. Thats where the roof rack side rails will bolt on. Saw videos on it and it´s going to be a walk in the park. Went to the junkyard today and scored a good luggage rack for my burb. Thanks for all the help people. pssst
