1993 1500 V6 Dipstick Question

I am not the dipstick, I have a question about the dipstick. I just bought a '93 1500 V6 work truck. The price was right and I couldn't pass it up. I don't think the dipstick in the tube is the one that should be in it. The guy I bought it from changed the oil and said the volume was correct, but it didn't register on the dipstick.

I know the jokes write themselves, but if any of you guys with a '93 1500 with a 4.3 V6 have a tape measure, could you measure your dipstick from the end to the stopper and tell me how long it is?

Yeah, I know I just stepped in it big time, but it wouldn't be the first time. Thanks!
 
Assuming you are speaking of the ENGINE oil dipstick, not the TRANS oil dipstick. That same item fits a 1990 to 1994 with the 4.3 V6.
 
Yes, the engine oil dipstick. I have looked everywhere for a replacement, including the internet, my local junkyards, and eBay. I even have the GM part number, but no luck. Since it looks like I have to modify something that will work, that is why I need to know the length.
