I have a 1993 gmc s15 jimmy sle and my check guages light, check engine light, and abs brake light comes on and stays on. It won't start on its own and will die if i don't keep it idled up. I use ether, engine starting fluid and it will crank up but it needs it everytime to crank up. I replaced every sensor and cleaned the egr valve and changed the fuel pump, sending unit assembly, fuel filter, oil filter, the oil, and everything else i can think of. Once it gets going it has normal power. I have spent 2300 dollars on parts for it that has yet to fix my problem. it is an older model so autozone and etc will not check the codes. I'm 18 and am looking for a job so money is an issue. I just need help finding the real reason why it doesn't crank on its own and why the lights on the dash stay on.

Surprised there Auto Zone will not check the DTC codes for you which is much easier to check then the obdII system. Here is a link for you to check the DTC codes on your Jimmy without any tools other then a paper clip. http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/

As for ABS light on, that could be a bad wheel sensor, or a bad ABS pump motor that has gone bad. Check with the ABS fuse first to make sure it's good, then work you way to the ABS sensor at the wheel hubs. The first things to check are the ABS relays under the hood. One controls the ABS module, one controls the pump.

Does the light turn on as soon as you start the car, or after you start moving a little bit? If its the first, the module's relay is probably toast. If its the second, the pump's relay is likely the culprit.

Good luck and keep us posted.;) OH and Auto Zone should be able to read the ABS codes.
