Seems to me if it is leaking in that area the item or piece that the oil filter spins onto may have been damaged.
There should be 2 bolts that hold that piece onto the engine block. Remove it and inspect for damage.
You could get a replacement if needed at a dealer or junkyard.. not sure if the average part store would stock that item.
Don't lose those 2 bolts, they are the only ones of that type that will work for whatever reason.
