1994 gmc jimmy slt digital dash

my digital dash has been dimming at random times like when i go over bumps or use my window motor to roll up windows i can tap the top of it and it goes right back if it stays dim. if it is a loose ground wire where do i check first and how

It's likely a bad cold solder connection inside the cluster itself. They are very well known for doing that.

There's some places that rebuild them unless you're competent enough to do it yourself.
