1994 GMC Sierra V6 knocking?

I am looking at a 1994 GMC 1500 extended cab, the guy who is selling it said after he replaced the intake gasket that the truck started knocking, it has 176,000 on the odometer and has a V6 in it, any clue what this could be, is 900 for said truck a good deal or not?
Also the guy said it knocks while idling..
And also how much would it cost to fix knock?

If it's knocking it would be either a rod bearing or main bearings on the crank. Either way you will need the bottom end of the motor rebuilt, which could get pricey. If the rest of the truck is good shape it would probably be worth buying and fixing.
