The oil temp gauge in my sonoma will usually either stay at the exact same temp all the time (even when it has been sitting outside in sub zero temps for days) or it will randomly drop to zero and the check gauges light will turn on, it usually happens just as im going to park. it hasn't affected performance or anything, it just kind of makes me nervous.

You could have a faulty oil pressure sending unit and will need to be replaced, the wire leads are damaged due to corrosion and will need to be fixed. the last would be a problem with the gauge it self, but have the oil pressure check manually with a external oil pressure. You should have 60 psi at start up's and 42-48 at idle with the engine at operation temperature. The other problem that may cause this is a faulty oil pressure regulator spring and that is located on the block where the oil filter remote lines connect to, but that is rare to happen. If you can get a hole of Marvel Mystery Oil "Auto Zone" add that to your engine oil about 1,500 miles before your next oil change and see if that will help fix the problem. The Mystery oil will clean out all the oil journals and sensors like your oil sending unit and if it doesn't it fix it. then you have a faulty oil pressure sending unit and will need to be replaced.
