Hello truck world. I never thought I would own a truck, but here I am.
A little history on my truck. Its 1995 sierra sle and apparently has the 5.7l v8 in it. My uncle bought this truck, threw in a lot of money into it, put all sorts of body kits and accessories, has 8 subs in the bed, one fosgate amp per sub, and 2 fosgate amps for the interior speakers, and lots of other custom work. He competed in subs competitions and won a few trophies, competed for a year and moved to Mexico but left the truck here. He kept it in storage for 2 years, but after that just ask us to keep it in our garage until he could take it with him. 15 years later, he decides he doesn't want the truck anymore so he gives it to me. The truck had 9980 miles on it when we uncovered it to try and use. After some diagnosis and changing the fuel pump and gas tank, it runs now. The truck is basically new, with on ly 10k miles on it, pretty crazy for a 15 year old truck.
Well that's the history of my basically new 95 sierra.
A few questions.
I have been trying to find info on the 95 sierras and can only find that they came with the either the 4.3 v6 or the 5.0 v8 and only in manual. My truck has the 5.7 v8 and is an auto, is the 5.7 a stock engine or no? Auto?
That's basically all my questions for now. I just got the truck fixed with my dad's help two weeks ago and just transferred it under my name yesterday so the mods will begin.
I have already taken off most of the "accessories" my uncle put on it in 95, it looks like he went to auto zone and bought every accessory there and went to town on his truck
. I have cleaned it up quite a bit from how my uncle had it, just removed most of the autozone junk. I will next try and get the electric bed cover to open so I can take all those subs out and the 4 batteries he has under the truck.
The truck runs great, but feels sluggish, maybe because I’m not use to using a truck. I have read a few K&N and exhaust threads and most on here seem to want improved mpg and hp, but that won’t happen. The intake might improve hp according to the butt dyno, but even if it doesn't really do much, atleast it sounds nicer, well to me it does. I just want improved power and responsiveness from the trans, I am currently looking into reprogramming the pcm and doing some other engine work for more power.
