Recently took my Jimmy to the mechanic to find out what is causing smoke to rise from rear of engine on the passenger side directly in front of the firewall. I had a real scare a time or two when this smoke turned to actual flames coming from the frame and exhaust on the passenger side of the vehicle. I knew there was a leak and asked the mechanic to do a transmission leak check on it. He found there was a leak from the intake gasket running down the outside front of the engine and the oil coolant hose was leaking at the crimp up by the oil filter. He had no clue what could be causing the smoke/flames from the rear of the engine. It is not leaking enough to hit the ground when the truck is parked. It only leaks when the car is running and it is NOT leaking enough to hit the ground - it is hitting the back of the engine and running down to the exhaust along the passenger side of the engine. I can't find any kind of leak of any kind of liquid anywhere - only the resulting smoke. I thought it was a transmission leak but the mechanic said there were absolutely no leaks with the transmission. Everyone who has looked at it is completely stumped!
