1996 GMC Jimmy Hatch Problem

I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy SLT and I have a hatch problem. it seems to open when I put it in drive, sometimes or it opens when I put it in park, most times. what would be the problem and how would I repair this. Please help.

Check the button on the dash to open the hatch, check to see if it's not shorting out causing your rear hatch to open up. The hatch will only open when the transmission is placed in park or neutral, so when you place the transmission in drive. It passes through the Neutral causing your rear hatch to open. Try disconnecting the switch on the dash for the rear hatch and see if the problem goes away, if it does. Replace the switch, keep me posted.
