1996 gmc sonoma electrical problems?

i have a 1996 gmc sonoma 4 cylinder manual 2wd, and sometimes when i am driving for a split second the truck will die then drive like normal a split second after, and after it dies and starts again all the lights on the dash come on and sometimes the ((ABS)) light will stay on until i turn the truck off again. anybody know what it could be ?
also about a week ago the starter stuck on and almost burned, i managed to tap it from underneath the truck and get it unstuck and maybe in that process i shook a wire loose or something maybe ?
