1996 gmc sonoma sls 4.3 L vortec 4300?

what is the size of my gas tank???? it says that its 19 but when i use about 10 gallons, the tank reads empty. please help

Take a can of gas and run the car to empty and it stops running. Put the can of gas in it and get to a filling station and fill it all the way up. Take note of how much gas you put in it. Gas gauges are sometimes quite a bit off.

You have a bad sending unit. That is why your gas gauge is not registering.
