1996 suburban 1500 transmission problem

I have a 1996 gmc suburban 1500 4x4 and recently the transmission wont down shift to first gear when I stop also when this happens the speedo and tach doesnt work..... any ideas

Check your electronic shift sensor.

It is on the side of the tranny but you will have to take it to a shop to have it tested.
