1997 Sierra Seat Belt Retractor

Hello,

My passenger side seat belt will not release from the retractor mechanism. You can jiggle it a little bit by pulling and releasing in small increments and it might release some, but not enough to fully release the belt to allow you to buckle it.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks!!!

I am having the exact same problem with my '97 Suburban. I just got a new-to-me passenger-side retractor mechanism, but I have yet to install it. Hopefully that will solve it, at least for a while. That's what I would recommend. Try a self-service junk yard and you can get it really cheap. Anyway, good luck!
