Hi. I have a 97 Sonoma 4.3 that ran fine up until a week or so ago. The 1st. time it happen, it just died, & then within a couple of minutes it started again & ran fine for a couple of days. Then it died out again, & restarted again, but then died again a couple of days later & wouldn't start back up again. So I looked at the motor for anything obvious, & checked alot of the electrical connections, but didn't see anything. So i tried starting it again, & this time i noticed that my temp gauge, gas gauge, & voltmeter weren't working & all the warning lights that usually come on (when you turn on the ign) on the inst. panel weren't working either & it was now stuck in park too. So after having it towed home, i checked it out some more & i have no fuel pressure (cant hear pump even come on) also my code reader can't get a signal from the obd2 port, it trys, but then says "no link". All fuses & fusible links are good, & it does have spark, because it will run with starting fluid. Interior lights & headlights work & radio, but the blinkers don't. I'm thinking the fuel pump was going bad & now has gone bad & when I was checking the elect. connections I must have damaged a wire or wires or something. But now, I dont know where to begin on diagnosing this problem, & I sure would appreciate any help that anyone could offer. Thank you very much.. Jeff

Well, after many, many, many checks on just about every different components (computer controlled) & switching out parts with good known ones I have finally figured out that it is my ignition switch of all things. I would never had dreamed it could have been that switch, especially the way it was stalling out just out of the blue like it was. I have never heard of a ignition switch doing this kind of thing before, but like they say, learn something new everyday, and I have learned alot this past couple of weeks about how these computer controlled components work & how to test them, & also the fuel injection system too . So on a positive note, next time something like this happens I'll be better prepared for it.

Tonyflash, : The battery was one of the first things I checked, but thank for your reply. ;)
Fishin_wi, : Your right, something wasn't right & it had me running in circles too.
