1998 Jimmy transfer case fluid

Just wondering how to tell where the transfer case is. I want to check the fluid and add some if needed. I don't want to be putting transfer case fluid into the front differential by mistake. Is the transfer case located where the 4WD drive encoder motor attaches? Thanks
