driving down the road today, approaching a 4 way stop i noticed that as i accelerated after coasting for a while there was a "slap" comming from the back( assumidley the ring gear is too loose/worn because it happens when the car is coasting and i accelerate suddenly) could i just re-shim the pinion to make up for the slack? or do i need to also re shim the carrier as well? assuming that the gears arent too worn of course. i believe its the 10 bolt, and 3.73, but im not sure. how do i make sure? also, does it have that annoying crush sleeve? that thing was ANNOYING!

i blew up the rear end on my brothers suburban a while ago neutral dropping it, and had the joy of rebuilding the ENTIRE rear end, drive shaft and cracked the t-case housing. it literally tore the carrier in half like a piece of paper.

so ive re built and shimmed a rear end before, not tons, but i know how its done.
