Good chance the 4wd vacuum switch on top of the transfer case has gone bad and will need to be replaced. Auto Zone or Napa has the part and think runs around $25.00 and the dealer for $44.00

Here is a link to the part that needs to be replaced, it's number 46. You can disconnect the vacuum lines to the switch and see if the 4wd light goes off. if it does, replace the vacuum switch.

It takes about 20 min from start to finish with just a wrench jack and jack stands. Good luck and be safe, keep us posted. :D
