My vehicle is a 1999 GMC Jimmy 4X4 2 door. Yesterday I replaced the fuel pump. I was very careful and took my time ensuring that everything was attached properly. When I was finished the vehicle started up perfectly. I crawled under the vehicle to see if there were any leaks. There were none. I then drove the vehicle to the gas station. Along the way I stopped and checked again. No leaks. I got a half tank of gas and drove it home. No leaks. Everything was fine. Then this morning I drove about 5 miles into town. On my way home I started smelling gas. My gas gauge went from half a tank to a quarter of a tank. As soon as I pulled into the driveway and checked the fuel was just pouring out from the top of the tank. What did I miss? Or what could the problem be?
