1999 Sierra No odometer ,speedometer , RPM....

Hello, I have purchased a 1999 GMC Sierra 4x4 truck and its kind of a fixer upper.

I noticed That most of the gauge cluster isnt working. Ive got no Gear indicator lights, no odometer, no speedometer, no rpm gauge, and no fuel gauge. I believe the only gauge that works is the oil pressure gauge. also im not sure if its conneted but the horn also doesnt work. The guy I bought it from said he tried changing the entire gauge cluster in the dash with no sucess in fixing any issues. He said he figures its a bad ground some where? Wherever the ground is located??

Im just not sure if these are all seperate issues or one big issue causing multiple problems?

Has anyone had simillar issues?

Any help or Advice would be greatly appreciated?

there are some years of GM dash's that go bad
I don't know any sierras that have,I do know of a lot of trailblazer dash's going bad
It cost me $400 to have the dealer replace the dash in My Wifes 04 trailblazer

I doubt the cluster is the issue Crank_18 is having since he said the cluster had already been replaced with no change. However, I just want to add this since 98trck had gone through it. I'm not sure what the years affected were, GM extended a warrant on the clusters, but not usually long enough to cover the problem most people had. I had the same issue on a 2003 Sierra Denali, tach not working and temp gauge issues. I sent the cluster to a place called AutoXpressTech and they repaired the cluster, cleaned the plastic lens and shipped it back for $99. That was a couple years ago, so prices may have gone up, but it certainly beats the $400 that I have read in numerous posts / forums. My cluster has worked like a champ since then and no need to have the dealer reprogram the mileage and everything since they actually repair your cluster.

I had this problem when I bought my 93 z71 sierra. All I did was just go through the truck and clean and tighten every ground I could find. Also check and make sure your engine is grounded to the frame cleanly. I had to replace a snapped ground strap and That pretty much fixed it. So before spending any money I would try that.
