Hello all. I'm looking into upgrading from my 04 Chevy Colorado to a full-sized pickup. Right now one of the top contenders is a 1999 GMC Sierra SLE extended cab Z71 4x4. It has 102k miles on it, which is a little higher than I was looking for but very low considering the model year. I plan on going to test drive it this upcoming Friday.

I just wondered if there is anything specific I should be looking for when I look at this vehicle? I know of some of the more obvious things, like checking for rust, but is there anything specific to the model and year that could be problematic and I should look out for? Also wondered if the $8,000 asking price was reasonable for buying this from a dealer.

Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

If the ABS light on the dash cluster is on, it will most likely not be a wheel speed sensor. It will most likely be the ABS module. I have a '99 Sierra with that problem, and a couple people I know also have had the same problem with their's as well.

Thank you for your answer. I absolutely loved the truck, save for 1 small issue...there were no power seats, and because of my height and the way the dashboard was built, I was having troubles seeing over the dash. I decided to pass on it for that reason.

If your height is a problem, I believe there is about 3/4-1inch of extra thread on the seats mounting bolts that body spacers can be put on to raise the seat up.
