2000 gmc jimmy obdII problem

Im working on a 2000 GMC Jimmy and when i hook up the scanner it says link error and i have tried it several times and it still says the same thing any input as to why its saying that

ive even tried another scanner that runns off the power of the car and it wont come on where does the obd2 wires go

are you trying to plug the scanner in before or after the vehicle is running?

sounds like you have a bad fuse. Scanners will not work unless the plug has power and ground. Take a test light and check for power on the plug. 1 of the 16 holes will have power. I belive it's the last one.

If the is no power than you most likly have a blown fuse.

i checked holes and none of them have power and where is the fuse located is it an inline fuse or is it in the fuse box

open the left door there should be a fuse box between the dash and the door.

k i found it it was the fuse cig lighter fuse and got it 2 work thanks for all the help
