Hi all, Just replaced starter in my son's 2000 Sierra 1500, (not a 2500) 5.3 Vortec V8, hooked the battery back up, and now it's not firing. Pump pressures up, all acc. work, motor turns over, all sounds good, except it seems to have no spark. It ran fine when I shut it down, replaced starter, and now it's a no-go. Checked all fuses and relays, all are good, and confirmed the no spark issue. Any Ideas? Does something in the computer need to be reset? Can't find anything related to a ICM (Ignition control module) on this model.

Thanks,
Mike

Well frist thing that comes to mind is did you put all the wires back on the starter (the big post) Gm will use the starters battery post side for power distribution. So look and see if you left one off.

Problem solved.

The pigtail on the crank sensor was pulled out. Must have happened while removing the old starter. Lesson learned. Doesn't take much of a tug on the wiring harness to pull this apart. Pigtail and misc. cost about $60. Things one never thinks about when your laying on the driveway trying to get the old starter wiggled out.
