2000 GMC Sierra Fuel Pump?

Pump not running when I turn key . 2 wire for the sending unit reads 5 volts . No power reading to pump . Relay checks out OK .
Pulled pump and put power to fuel pump , pump ran . Why am I not getting power to pump . Wires are fine , I traced them all , Ground is good. No check engine lights are on . PCM ? ECM ??
My truck has a dump body so pulling the pump is not a problem .

somestimes the fuel pump armature gets a bad place on it if you tap the gas tank with a rubber hammer the pump will work or if you jump the vehicle even though it cranks the extra voltage gets the fuel pump working again but just for awhile do an amperage test to see hom many amps its drawing and see if it is within specs. i don't know it off hand. also if you put it back in the truck check the pressure. i think the pump is bad hope this helped
